A prominent Arizona businessman and his wife were killed on January 18th when their  1999 Cessna Citation 525, crashed into a snowy field some 40 miles away from Salt Lake City in the town of Cedar Fort. Commercial real estate executive Donald L. Baker, 59, and his wife, Dawn Elizabeth Baker, 55, were found in the wreckage of the plane. 

Residents in the small town reported hearing a loud noise and seeing the airplane on fire as it came apart and fell to the ground.  A spokesperson for the sheriff’s office says it appears that the airplane was having mechanical problems and that the pilot may have tried to go back to Salt Lake City. The crash occurred about 10 minutes after takeoff.

A Beechcraft A36 was substantially damaged during a forced landing to a wooded area after a total loss of engine power near Fayetteville, North Carolina on December 11, 2015. According to the pilot, David McKee, about two hours after takeoff the airplane was in cruise flight at 8000 feet when the engine suddenly lost power. Engine power was restored for a few seconds, and then the airplane experienced a total loss of engine power as the propeller "windmilled."
